FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

▶Q. Can I request new phrases?
Yes. From the app's Request menu, enter the Japanese phrase you'd like in Chinese and submit it. Phrases already included or difficult to publish may not be added. Requests are reviewed and published in turn.
▶Q. Can I search phrases and words?
Yes. Swipe down on the home screen to reveal the search bar — it searches all phrases, example sentences, and words. If something's missing, use the Request feature.
▶Q. How do I download phrases for the first time?
Open the menu (top left) > Update. The first download is large, so use a stable connection such as Wi-Fi. You can download phrases individually or all at once, and check recent downloads under 'Latest' in the menu.
▶Q. Can auto-play speak Chinese only (no Japanese)?
Yes — turn Japanese audio on/off in Settings. You can also toggle text display, set repeat counts, and enable endless, shuffle, or background playback to study your way.
▶Q. My favorites / downloaded phrases disappeared.
This is usually caused by low device storage. Check Settings > General > Storage (all phrases + words take about 547MB; we recommend keeping 30%+ free). iOS may auto-delete cached data when storage runs low, which can remove phrases. Free up space and re-download, or download only the phrases you need.
▶Q. I'm stuck on the intro screens.
Swipe right-to-left through the intro screens. On the last page, swipe slowly from the right edge all the way to the left edge to reach the home screen.
▶Q. Are there versions for other languages?
No — this app is dedicated to learning Chinese, and no other language versions are available. (It is unrelated to the 'Real Eikaiwa' app.)
